lumber and plywood; fully cured concrete and exterior-approved concrete patching
compounds; fiberglass; and fully cured asphalt pavement
Note: Consult Technical Services for installation recommendations regarding substrates and conditions not listed.
Limitations
Do not install over any substrates containing asbestos. Do not
apply over any adhesive residues including cutback. Use only when the substrate
temperature is between 40°F and 100°F. Protect from rain or water exposure for
72 hours after application. Do not use over asphalt roofing, coated asphalt
pavements or plank decking.
Surface Preparation
substrates must be structurally sound, dry, solid and stable. Substrate should be clean and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing agents, concrete sealers, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles, old adhesive residues, and any other substance or condition that may prevent or reduce adhesion. All surfaces must be level, even, flat and smooth.
Mixing
Note: Choose all appropriate safety equipment before use. Refer to Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for more information.
• Ready to use, no mixing is necessary.
Installation
Read all installation instructions thoroughly before installation.
1. Select the appropriate notched trowel (see “Typical Trowels and Approximate Coverages” section).
2. Spread adhesive evenly over the subfloor, keeping the trowel at a 45° angle to the subfloor.
3. Apply only enough so carpet can be laid into adhesive while it is wet. Do not let adhesive skin over. (Rough paving surfaces may require more adhesive to maintain contact with the carpet backing.)
4. Place carpet into adhesive and avoid creating air pockets, checking occasionally to make sure adhesive is fully transferring to the backing.
5. Press carpet into adhesive bed using firm pressure or a lightweight roller.
6. Seal seams and edges with APAC 613 carpet seam sealer. This will help to prevent raveling in those areas and maintain the attractive appearance of the installation.
7. Promptly remove adhesive from the flooring surface using water while adhesive is still fresh/wet. Use mineral spirits once dried. Use caution with mineral spirits, which may be harmful to some materials.
8. Clean tools with water while the adhesive is still fresh/wet.
9. Protect from light traffic for 24 hours, and from heavy traffic for 72 hours.
CLEANUP
Clean up using mineral spirits. Use caution with mineral spirits, which may be harmful to some materials.
